Dark Horse Comics Unveils First Look at Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny

Dark Horse Comics has released an exclusive first look at the upcoming Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny series, a prequel to the Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

The series is written by Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Nightwing) and illustrated by Eddie Nunez (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), with colors by Brad Simpson and letters by Andworld Design. It is set in the days before Prince Adam became He-Man, and follows his journey as he learns to harness his newfound powers and protect Eternia from the forces of evil.

The preview pages released by Dark Horse Comics show Adam training with his mentor, the Sorceress, and facing off against the evil Skeletor. The artwork is dynamic and colorful, and the story promises to be an exciting and action-packed prequel to the popular animated series.

Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny #1 will be released on September 6, 2023. It will be available in comic book shops and digitally.

In addition to the preview pages, Dark Horse Comics has also released a synopsis for the series:

"Before he was He-Man, he was Prince Adam. And before he could save Eternia, he had to learn to control his powers. In Masters of the Universe: Forge of Destiny, Prince Adam must train with the Sorceress to master his newfound abilities, all while fending off the evil Skeletor and his minions. The fate of Eternia hangs in the balance!"

The series is said to appeal to fans of the Masters of the Universe franchise, as well as those who enjoy fantasy adventure stories. With the controversy that surrounded the Netflix series, will this book just be more of the same?
