Disney Investor's Day Highlights!!

 SO MUCH HAPPENED TODAY!

To keep the point of reference, here are the biggest and most interesting bits.

This is NOT a complete and comprehensive list of EVERYTHING that was discussed during the announcement on 12/10/20. It IS about 80% complete, and the other 20% is director announcements, release date changes, and the like.

For the COMPLETE list of stuff you will have to go elsewhere. BUT if you have been joining the Week In Nerdom episodes, this is everything we have been following. There is a BUNCH of rumor confirmations in here. We will likely cover those on the next episode of the show.

Because it is much more difficult than it should be to find all the winners from this year's Game Awards. So to deal with that I am just going to post them all right here for your quick reference.

The Craft Legacy | Review

The Craft Legacy Header

There are a few of lessons to be learned from making a sequel 24 years after the original. First is, don't make the same movie again. Second, don't spoil your "big reveal" in the trailer for your movie. Third, make sure you pay attention to what the original movie is trying to say, and continue with that message, or at the very least have a similar message in the new one. The Craft: Legacy KIND OF does all of these things, and at the same time none of them.

Hubie Halloween | Netflix Movie Review

A

Adam Sandler just keeps making movies...

I would say that the jury is still out on their quality, but that would be disingenuous. We all know that even when they were good, and still had something of an edge, they weren't really THAT good. Basically Sandler has been peddling in poopoo peepee humor since his days as a cast member on SNL. Even his comedy albums from that era were that same kind of sophomoric humor. All of that being said, Sandler's early work is now considered classic. Which isn't exactly a bad thing as it took that sophomoric sensibility and made it feel fresh, one could even argue that it had some teeth back then.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge | Written Review

Mortal Kombat is easily my favorite nerdy franchise. I vividly remember pumping quarters into the arcade machine in 1992 and each subsequent iteration thereafter. I have purchased the Kollector's Edition of each version of the game since the switch to home consoles, whenever possible. And was almost a staff writer for one of the (at the time) top Mortal Kombat fan sites around the time that Armageddon was released. I say all this not only to illustrate that I am a HUGE fan, and this review might be a little overly flowery, but also to illustrate my deep knowledge of the franchise.

Bloodshot | Generally Nerdy Written Review

Vin Diesel really wants to prove that he IS a nerd. He is the voice of Groot in the MCU, claims to have played D&D as a kid, has a penchant for episodic movies, and is the driving force behind one of the better science fiction action adventure series in recent memory. Now he is looking to add "semi-obscure comic book superhero" to his list of nerd franchise titles. And it seems to have worked.
