Week In Nerdom 7-30 - Metallica gets Shady, Amazon is Confident, &MORE!!

Music

Tool
Maynard announces album title on Joe Rogan. Fear Inoculum.

Dragonforce
New video Highway to Oblivion from their forthcoming 8th album Extreme Power Metal.

Metallica
New Jersey congressman Bill Pascrell called out Live Nation and Ticketmaster over a ticketing scam involving Metallica’s WorlWired tour. It seems that the band (‘s manager?) set aside 88,000 tickets for direct sale through resale markets.

Protest the Hero
Here we are 6 months after the last announcement on the bands new record and the state of vocalist Rody Walker’s voice. The band gave us a new update, sayin that Walker’s vocals have finally been completed and they are bringing in an orchestra in an effort to make this their “biggest sounding record yet.”

TV

I Know What You Did Last Summer
James Wan just can’t stop making horror. Deadline is now reporting he will direct the pilot episode of the newest 90s horror turned series. In other news, Amazon is turning IKWYDLS into a series on Prime…
Then again… maybe not. Wan just took to Facebook to debunk this as baseless rumor.

Carnivale Row
One MONTH before the premiere of season 1, Amazon has renewed Carnivale Row for a second season. Is Amazon renewing based on hype? Or should we expect a cliffhanger like we got with the boys?

Lucifer
Fans of the series who were worried about the showrunner not being able to finish in a satisfying way should be happy, Netflix just ordered 6 more episodes to make the final season 16 episodes instead of 10.

Walking Dead
The next spin-off of the series, which is still untitled, just got a teaser on Twitter. Are they perhaps also teasing the title of the series? “New World”

Or perhaps it is “Monument” which is what seems to be the working title on set in Virginia.

Movies

Halloween Kills/ Halloween Ends
Danny McBride said this:
When we first were signed up for it, we were going to originally try to do three movies back-to-back. Ultimately, we were kind of all like let’s make sure we can do this one good. Then when we connected with people, we all decided let’s try to continue what we were going to do.
It’s just a continuing story that’s got a beginning, middle and end. I’m excited to begin it. The middle is chaos and the ending is very satisfying.

Venom 2
Andy Serkis and Travis Knight (Bumblebee) are both in the running to direct the Tom Hardy sequel according to Variety. Sony apparently wants to start filming in the fall.

The Lighthouse
A24 keeps cranking out interesting horror movies. Lighthouse is next in the line and they just posted a new trailer. It is… weird.

Dune
Denis Villeneuve’s movie adaptation will apparently gender swap Liet Kynes.

Gaming

Blair Witch
First Gameplay trailer dropped… could be scary. Will be more scary than either of those movies that is for sure!

Fortnite
Official Twitter is teasing a Mech?

Todd McFarlane
Talking with IGN McFarlane said that after the release of the 2 MK11 figures (Sub-Zero and Scorpion… obviously) he would love to do fatality figures.

Zombieland 2
The Australian Video Game Classification Ratings Board leaked that there is apparently an M rated game that will release alongside the movie. It is supposedly called Zombieland Double Tap: Road Trip. Actual game content is still unknown.

Comic Books

Guardians of the Galaxy
The new team got a new ride. The Bowie. TheDavid Bowie estate put their stamp of approval on the naming via Twitter.
