XX- Mushroomhead - If you want an album that blends crushing metal, industrial grooves, and haunting melodies, XX is a must. Mushroomhead’s masked chaos and dual-vocal assault create a sound that’s both aggressive and hypnotic. The re-recorded tracks here are their definitive versions—raw, polished, and dripping with atmosphere.

Stand out tracks: Solitaire Unravelling, Never Let it Go, Bwomp.

1. Hardware Information (Especially as it Applies to Backward Compatibility)

The Nintendo Switch 2 introduces significant hardware upgrades while prioritizing backward compatibility with the original Switch. It features a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals in handheld mode. When docked, it supports 4K resolution at up to 120fps, aided by a redesigned dock with enhanced cooling. The console comes with 256GB of internal storage and supports microSD Express cards for faster data transfer, though standard microSD cards may not be compatible. The new Joy-Con controllers attach magnetically with a release button, are larger with bigger buttons and sticks, and can function as a mouse for certain games. A built-in microphone with noise cancellation enables voice chat via the new GameChat feature, and the system boasts improved speakers with 3D audio support.

Backward compatibility is a cornerstone, allowing most original Switch games (physical and digital) to be playable, though some exceptions exist—e.g., Nintendo Labo VR Kit won’t work due to size differences, and games relying on the original Joy-Con’s IR sensor may require legacy controllers. Nintendo uses a hybrid approach (not pure emulation) to convert Switch game data in real-time, enabling enhancements like better resolution or GameChat integration when played on Switch 2. As of April 2025, all 122 Nintendo-developed Switch games tested were compatible except Labo VR, while 20% of over 15,000 third-party titles had no issues, with others still under investigation.

2. Game Titles (Including Launch Titles and Third-Party Support)

The Switch 2 launches on June 5, 2025, with Mario Kart World as its flagship title, featuring a vast, interconnected world and 24-player races, available standalone or in a $499.99 bundle with the console. Other first-party launch window titles include Donkey Kong Bananza (July 17, 2025), a 3D platformer with destructible environments, and Kirby Air Riders, a racing sequel to Kirby Air Ride, set for later in 2025. Enhanced “Switch 2 Edition” versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will offer HDR, higher resolutions, and better frame rates, while Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A (originally Switch titles) will get upgraded versions. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a Tears of the Kingdom prequel, is slated for Winter 2025.

Third-party support is robust, with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition (including Shadow of the Erdtree) and Borderlands 4 confirmed for 2025. Other rumored or confirmed titles include Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Hades 2 (targeting 60fps), Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods, a steampunk-inspired Switch 2 exclusive, is planned for 2026. GameCube classics like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker will join Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, enhancing the retro library.

3. Miscellaneous

The Switch 2 retails at $449.99 standalone, with pre-orders starting April 9, 2025, prioritized for Nintendo Switch Online members with at least 12 months of paid membership and 50 gameplay hours. The GameChat feature, activated by a “C” button on the right Joy-Con, offers Discord-like voice and video chat, possibly tied to a subscription. A new Pro Controller ($79.99) includes an audio jack and remappable buttons, while accessories like a Switch 2 Camera ($49.99) integrate with games like Super Mario Party Jamboree. Virtual Game Cards debut in late April 2025, allowing digital game transfers across consoles or temporary lending within family accounts.

Nintendo will host Switch 2 Experience events starting April 4-6, 2025, in cities like New York and Paris, offering hands-on demos. A digital-only Switch 2 Welcome Tour game launches with the console to teach players about its features via minigames. Battery life ranges from 2 to 6.5 hours, similar to the original Switch, depending on usage. Nintendo’s partnership with the Seattle Mariners will see Switch 2 logos on jerseys in 2025, boosting promotion. Game prices may rise to $90 for Switch 2 exclusives, aligning with industry trends.

Dr Who - New companion Belinda Chandra actor Varada Sethu is leaning into the “woke” accusations and wearing the word as a badge of honor. Ncuti Gatwa is returning as the Doctor. With their peak viewership down to 4.9 million from a series high of 16.1, and a regular viewership between 10 to 13M, it seems that the good Doctor is not long for this world. It’s not about Ncuti being black OR gay really, more about the content of the recent seasons, and the preachy nature.

New Sources

More Fuel for the Russos - Jennifer Salke fired from Amazon, rumored because of the poor reception of the James Bond plans, Rings of Power, Christopher Nolan, and the Show Citadel, which was produced and partially directed by the Russos.

Xbox Handheld - seems to be the worst kept tech secret on the internet right now. Even ASUS, who is making the thing, are teasing it at this point.

New Rumors

Strange New Worlds - Rumor has it that the next season of the Fan-approved series has undergone fairly significant reshoots after the anti-DEI policies enacted by the Trump administration. The claim states further that the pending Paramount-Skydance merger hinges on the Trump admin as well, and should it fall through Skydance plans to sue.

Blade - New director rumored to be Chad Stahelski from the John Wick franchise.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico - A sequel is in the works at Netflix? Though not a direct sequel, but an “inspired” sequel. Brad Pitt is rumored to be returning, with David Fincher being the new director (at Pitt’s recommendation). The rumor continues on by saying that DiCaprio’s involvement is being negotiated still.

Ahsoka Season 2 - Sources are reporting significant developments for the upcoming second season of the Star Wars series Ahsoka. It's claimed the season will heavily feature cosmic Force elements, including the return of the powerful entity Abeloth as a major antagonist, potentially linked to Baylan Skoll's quest from season one. Furthermore, several familiar faces are reportedly returning: Hayden Christensen is said to be a series regular as the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker, Ewan McGregor will appear as Obi-Wan Kenobi in flashbacks alongside the young Ahsoka actress, Liam Neeson is expected to reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn's Force Ghost, and Temuera Morrison will return, likely as Captain Rex. Adding to the deep lore exploration, reports suggest flashbacks to the realm of Mortis will occur, with fan-favorite voice actor Sam Witwer portraying "The Son," alongside newly cast actors for "The Father" and "The Daughter." Finally, elements involving Grand Admiral Thrawn are expected to bleed into the main galaxy timeline, reportedly featuring a scene with Princess Leia and Mon Mothma discussing the threat he poses.

Darth Maul Series - In other Star Wars news, reports indicate that Lucasfilm Animation is developing a new series centered around the popular character Darth Maul. Following his significant roles in The Clone Wars and Rebels, this potential series would further explore the former Sith Lord's story. It's also suggested that actor Sam Witwer, known for voicing Maul across various animated projects, is expected to return to voice the character in this new venture.

The Mandalorian & Grogu - movie will function as a relatively self-contained side mission. The main characters are reportedly Din Djarin, Grogu, and Rotta the Hutt (Jabba's son), with the plot lacking significant cameos or major connections to the overarching narrative being built by Dave Filoni. Concurrent reports claim that director Jon Favreau intends to conclude his primary involvement with Lucasfilm following the completion of the current Mandalorian-focused projects, including this film and potentially assisting Filoni, and is reportedly not seeking a larger leadership role within the company afterward.

All NEW Batman - Brandon Sklenar from 1923, is being heavily rumored to be cast as Batman by James Gunn.
