Comic Con: The Truth No One Wants To Admit... Kinda

     There are some interesting numbers about the top ranking Nerd Conventions in our country. With there being something like 500 nerdy conventions in the USA let's break down some of the differences and analyze what their popularity means, after the jump.

Continuing with the discussion we stared a couple weeks ago about people who have never been to comic con before. Here is a video, the first of a small series, with some pointers.

Convention Life

     Reading through some Facebook group posts, I saw some people posting about how they have never been to a nerd convention before. This is 2017, nerd culture is at its peak (possibly even headed on the other side of the peak), and there are over 500 nerd conventions across the country. What are you people waiting for? Being into "nerdy" things has never been more en vogue, and never will it be like this again.

     Let's do a generalized walk-through of an average nerd convention.

Nerd Culture: A Saturation

     We are reaching critical mass with this influx of Nerd Culture into the pop mentality. What does that mean for our favorite characters?

Unnecessary Change in Popular Characters

     So this is a conversation that may, on the surface, seem to be an about face on a stance I have taken in the past, and will continue to take: Changing an established "non-diverse" character into a "diverse" one for no other reason than to show off how diverse a creator/publisher/company is. There are ways to change an established character to fit a "more diverse" classification so as to not disturb the fan base.

Nerdy Sexuality

     This is an interview I did last year at Denver Comic Con.
     I just thought it was a good way to bring up Sexuality in Nerd Culture... which is really just an expansion on the CosPlay discussion.

New Regular Series

   
     So about two weeks ago I had an idea. All the "advice" channels on YouTube and everywhere else on the internet say that you need to post regularly and AT LEAST once a week. So what can a nerd like me do to ensure that there is something to post once a week? A "Week In..." series that's what. My only second thought was, "But everyone does a damn weekly nerd video of some sort. Hell, that's why The Nerdist even exists."
