Movies Week In Nerdom 2-11 - Super Mario, Avengers Endgame, and Star War...

Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo is aiming for a 2022 release date.

Guardians Vol 3
Taika Waititi is out as potential director. Saying to the Wrap that “Those are James [Gunn]’s films.” He does still want to direct another Marvel film, just not that one.

Mortal Kombat
Greg Russo took to twitter to confirm that not only is the Script for the movie finished, but they have some locations officially scouted AND at least Kabal and Sub Zero will be in the final film.

Bob Iger recently made a statement on the future of “R” rated movies in the MCU during their investors conference call:
“We do believe there is room for the Fox properties to exist without significant Disney influence over the nature of the content. Meaning that we see that there is certainly popularity amongst Marvel fans for the R-rated Deadpool films, for instance, we are going to continue in that business, and there might be room for more of that.”
He went on to say that, like most of us figured, any such “R” rated properties would just have to be branded differently, so as to differentiate them from the family friendly fare.

Kitty Pryde
Brian Michael Bendis told Twitter that he is still hard at work on the script for the Solo Kitty Pryde movie.

Avengers Endgame
Joe Russo revealed the current run-time of the movie is around 3 hours. Which seems to be testing well because other sources are reporting that test screening audiences are risking kidney stones to finish the movie by refusing to go to the bathroom until the movie finishes. The movie is so long in fact that Marvel is reportedly considering having an intermission in the middle of the run time.

World War z 2
The potential for a David Fincher lead zombie movie is no more. Deadline is reporting that Paramount canned the project because of budget issues. Though there is still the possibility that it could just restart the development process in an attempt to bring the cost down.

A Quiet Place 2
To begin filming this summer according to Production Weekly
