Week In Nerdom 2-19 - A Change in Format

Vampire Chronicles
According the the official Facebook page for the series, they have just brought Dee Williams on as showrunner. Her previous endeavours include ER, Nashville, Southland amongst others.
Star Wars
In an interview with ComicBook.com Alan Tudyk was pretty avoidant when it came to answering questions about the Cassain Andor series coming to Disney+. With it being a prequel, it does make sense to bring back K-2SO. Especially considering his fan favorite status.

Brave New World
USA Network has put a straight-to-series order on 10 episodes of Aldus Huxley’s Brave New World. THR is reporting that “Homecoming” producer David Wiener will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor, Owen Harris, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will also executive produce. No premiere date has been set just yet.

Jessica Jones/Punisher
The inevitable has finally happened. Netflix has cancelled their last 2 Marvel properties. The streaming giant told Deadline just today.

Star Wars
Get those gasps out now… Rian Johnson IS still working on his very own Star Wars trilogy. It was reported yesterday that he was going to focus on other projects and leave Star Wars to do so. THEN Johnson took to his twitter to set the record straight.
AND JJ took to Instagram to announce that principal photography has wrapped on episode 9. Following which a UK theater started a rumor that they have received a teaser trailer for the movie which is set to release Dec 20th.

Dune
On the tails of all that casting last week, we now are getting the announcement of the movie’s release date. Nov. 20, 2020

Bumblebee
The debate of is it, or is it not a reboot has been set straight by Hasbro. According to Transformer World, during a panel at the New York Toy Fair Hasbro officially stated that Bumblebee is set in “a new storytelling universe.”

New Mutants
ALSO at the Toy Fair, Hasbro had a listing of all upcoming Marvel releases which had a release date of Sept. 2 for the Josh Boone Marvel Horror movie. Which is odd for a couple reasons. First, because that is a Monday. Which, if true, could definitely mean a Hulu release like the rumors have been hinting at. It is also strange because of the fact that such an announcement has yet to be officially made. The last official announcement was Aug 2. Which could lead one to believe this is just a matter of typos in public.

Suicide Squad
Forbes has back pedalled a bit on the report we talked about a few days ago. It seems that Harley WILL in fact be in Gunn’s new Suicide Squad movie. Though it will still be something of a reboot of the series, featuring a MOSTLY new cast. The status of Will Smith’s Deadshot being one that seems to still be in limbo, since the actor was originally signed on for 2 films.

The Batman
Salt shakers ready… Revenge of the Fans says that WB is “ironing out the details” of a contract to bring in Armie Hammer to don the cape and cowl.
https://revengeofthefans.com/2019/02/18/armie-hammer-is-in-final-talks-to-be-the-batman-exclusive/
Then one of THR’s lead reporters, Borys Kit, took to twitter to say that his source at WB is calling the Armie Hammer rumor bunk. Saying that there are NO actors in any sort of final consideration.

Apex Legends
Word on the leak is that week 8 is going to not only debut a new game mode, but also 2 new characters named Octane and Wattson. Nothing has been confirmed from Respawn Entertainment, the company who produces the game.

Batman V TMNT III
Nickelodeon, DC, and IDW announced earlier today that there is going to be one more mini series in the world of Batman V TMNT. It is set to be a six issue arc, and will be the for real conclusion to the series. Set to come out May 1st  of this year, still being written by James Tynion IV and art by Freddie Williams II
